The development of central Bewdley is very important for the future of the town.

I am pleased that the new medical centre will be built on part of the Dog Lane car park, and also that there is a Tory promise to ensure more car parking spaces will be provided than is now the case.

These new spaces will apparently be where the old medical centre is currently sited.

But what about the fire station?

It seems highly likely that the fire station will go and become part of a single multi-purpose centre in Kidderminster, with firefighters sharing a new site with the police!

Mark Garnier, MP, is involved, as are the local Tory councillors and a government minister.

Time will tell!

But I predict that in the new building programme the fire station will be left out!

We have elections next May in which three local Tory councillors, Clee, Campion and Godwin are currently standing on a ticket of “Save Bewdley Fire Station”.

So, we will have a new medical centre, car-parking spaces moved onto Load Street car park, and keep the fire station!

Don’t trust the Tories to save Bewdley fire station.

They want the elections before the fire station closes.

The Tories’ usual supporters must judge Tory rhetoric against the reality of Bewdley being denied the current level of fire and emergency accident cover.
