I was pleased to see a full page of letters again in The Shuttle (December 11) but I was particularly interested in Mark Garnier’s column on the same page.
He recalled his experience of a night with a police patrol.
He refers to the reassurance part of the job with people pleased to see police out looking after them.
With the cuts already made and those which are promised should this government be re-elected, there will not be many officers for the residents to see out and about.
As he sees this as an important part of the job, why is he prepared to be a party to scaling it down?
He certainly will not see five police cars turning up even on a quiet night.
So what will happen on a busy night?
