Every time I switch on the news recently I hear some criticism of the NHS.
I just needed to relate an event that happened to me and to give my thanks to the staff who, I believe, ultimately saved my life.
I was taken to Worcester Royal Infirmary at the request of my GP Dr Chamberlain from Stanmore House Surgery.
I was suffering from a rare infection which is life-threatening if not caught quickly.
I was admitted to A and E, operated on and admitted to critical care.
I have been in hospital for seven weeks, four of which were in various wards in Worcester and then I was transferred to UHB.
The care I received from my GP, Mr Perry’s team in Worcester, the critical care staff and the nurses on the ward was exceptional.
I believe I would not be here to tell the tale had it not been for them and their efforts.
