The story of human excrement in the street (Shuttle, November 13) leaves me feeling disappointed and sad, rather than disgusted or outraged, that some people resort to doing this.

I think it is likely that they need help rather than condemnation. Perhaps their accommodation doesn’t have an adequate toilet; perhaps they have mental health problems, who can say.

Too quickly some people rush to condemn and shame rather than look to find constructive way forwards.
