IN REPLY to the letter sent in and published, Beware Pet Thieves; My cat Cleo disappeared on or around April 15.

I have reported her to the petlog company as she is micro-chipped.

I have also reported her on various pet social media sites to which I have had a massive response and many sightings.

On May 18 a lady posted on social media a picture of a cat of Cleo’s description stuck up a tree in Brintons park.

I went down there to find it was Cleo.

I called the police, fire brigade and RSPCA to which I had no help whatsoever.

The lady who had put the picture up and her partner helped get Cleo down. Unfortunately she ran off as soon as she was free due to being very frightened.

On May 19 I had another report to say Cleo had been seen in the Sutton park area.

Again I went straight down there to see what I thought was Cleo, yes I did try to “lure the cat” but as the cat came closer I realised it wasn’t Cleo and stopped.

At that point a couple came out of their house and shouted at me thinking I was trying to “steal” their pet. I was not trying to “steal” anyone’s cat.

I believed it was Cleo at first. It was an easy mistake on my part.

I apologised promptly and explained what had happened.

I even apologised to the cat and gave it some treats. I do apologise again for any misunderstanding, but as you can appreciate my cat has been missing for nearly two months now and I am very concerned for her welfare and just want her home where she belongs.

I will continue to follow any leads. I am, however, very upset that this couple not only reported me to the police but posted this on social media and now my name has been tagged to this.

All I want is to clear my name.

Cleo is two-years-old half Persian and grey in colour last seen wearing a red collar. She is approachable, very friendly and loving. Lastly I would like to thank the very lovely couple who not only posted the picture but helped me free her from the tree.
