HERE we go again, so Cookley Ward where the elderly can be transferred from Worcester Hospital for rehabilitation is to be closed due to ‘safety and environmental concerns’, but there are plans to use it for Wyre Forest Clinical Commissioning Group later this year.

So presumably it will be safe enough for that use, that was the same excuse used when Kidderminster Hospital was originally downgraded and A Block is apparently in too poor a state to be used.

Anyone involved in the decision making process with half a brain cell would have realised when the wonderful Kidderminster Hospital was downgraded to a ‘treatment centre’ with state of the art technology for diagnostics etc (what a joke) that Worcester Hospital would be unable to cope with an extra 100,000 potential patients from Wyre Forest alone, that does not include the population of surrounding areas like Hagley, Alveley etc, who all used Kidderminster Hospital.

Everywhere you look around Kidderminster, Stourport and surrounding areas, houses are being built on every scrap of available land, more and more families needing medical facilities so longer and longer queues for treatment at Worcester, not only for Wyre Forest residents but also the people of Worcester, their only advantage being they don’t have to travel 17 miles to access it.
