I would ask our Tory MP Mark Garnier and local council to consider more rented properties not selling off the existing housing stock at a discount.
Helping the many, not the few.
Even families with a reasonable income now struggle to get mortgages and first timers face huge debts from university fees etc. before even thinking of buying a home. People who rent are not some lower class.
As an alternative, the banks are sitting on government loans as assets that guarantee their core stability.
By “encouraging” banks to convert this cash in to bricks and mortar, they will still have the asset (with government guaranties) and they can create the thousands of new homes said to be needed. There is already a huge waiting list for rented homes in the Wyre forest area, why make it worse, specially not at a discount.
