I AM writing with regards to the proposed closure of Harvington Ward, more commonly known as D Block.
As anyone who has been involved in mental health will know, the last few years have seen sweeping and dramatic cutbacks in provision for those with mental health problems, particularly it seems in Kidderminster.
To all your readers I would like to say please don’t be fooled by WHCT Trust’s line that they will put more funds into community services.
The bottom line is that when Harvington closes, anyone from Kidderminster who needs a mental health bed will have to be placed in Worcester or even further afield.
Could someone please explain how closing an entire ward and forcing all carers and family to have to travel miles to visit helps either the quality or the care of those with mental health problems.
The people of Kidderminster have a long history of fighting back against the closure of their hospital, let’s hope we can do it again.
