PRIOR to last year’s local elections, the Conservative Party leaflet that was delivered in Wribbenhall featured the two election candidates, namely Julian Phillips and Gordon Yarranton, and referring generally to the ‘Conservative Team’. Both men were subsequently elected.

Sometime after being elected, Cllr Phillips asked residents on the Wribbenhall Estate whether they were in favour of possible parking restrictions, or were they against them. This seemed a fair enquiry, and I understand quite a number said they wanted restrictions in the interests of safety.

I was surprised to see in a later edition of the Conservative leaflet, towards the end of the year, that Cllr Yarranton stated he had collected signatures on a petition seeking to say parking restrictions were not wanted.

There was no mention of the number of people who wanted them. Cllr Phillips was not mentioned in this leaflet, and one councillor seems to be trying to outdo the other. Who had the best interests of all the residents in mind?
