I READ with sadness your article about the shop Top Stitchers closing after seventeen years in Kidderminster.

It joins many more in our town who have gone the same way.

Your article quotes a council director who states they are spending two million pounds in the town centre to ensure it remains attractive for shoppers.

Can we ask where the millions are being spent?

My friend took a picture on a Saturday at 12.30pm in what should be our bustling town centre, but it disgracefully shows abandoned market stall trailers and very few shoppers.

What has happened to the vibrant market we had?

We had a fanfare announcement in March from our councillor John Campion, reported in the Shuttle.

He said: “The market plays an important role in our town centre and as part of our transformation programme, we want to create a bright fresh look to appeal to local residents and visitors alike.”

Sorry Mr Campion but I think your “bright” new look is an embarrassment and why has it happened?

The shops and the market are the heart of the town and I suspect both vitally important aspects are being mismanaged by the council.

Now the elections are over, can some responsible councillors take action before it is too late for our town?
