I MUST say that whenever I have used the number 9 service from Cookley to and from Kidderminster there are always good loadings.
Yet, I have never ever seen a member of the Worcestershire County Council monitoring passenger numbers or its timekeeping.
Admittedly the majority of users are concessionary pass holders, therefore it certainly provides a socially necessary service for those without cars, but there are small numbers of fare paying passengers also.
This brings me to the matter that on this service, unlike other services in Kidderminster, is that no information is recorded because there are no electronic pass readers or strangely still, no tickets are issued for any tendered cash fares.
So how does the county council know how much revenue or passholders are supporting this service?
It is no good the county council saying it will be withdrawn because of lack of support, but I’m not surprised if there is no proof of ridership.
This needs addressing quickly.
