A REFERENDUM giving a small majority for either side would inevitably result in almost half the electorate spitting feathers whatever the outcome.

If ‘Remain’ had won by the same margin a second vote would have been emphatically denied.

Accusing the ‘Leave’ campaign of having a false prospectus is priceless coming from EU fans led by MPs fully signed up to the EU ‘project’ which has always been the creation of a country called The United States of Europe. A flag, an anthem, a parliament, a currency, a foreign secretary, 54 European embassies, open borders, harmonisation of tax rates, an army (coming soon).

Just how many clues do you ‘remainers’ need before the penny drops? The EU is already dominated by Germany and one of Mrs Merkel’s first pronouncements after the Brexit vote was that the pace of tax harmonisation in the Eurozone must now accelerate to ‘lock in’ member states.

Opt-outs? Give me a break! In the words of Jean-Claude Juncker on the occasion of the French Lisbon referendum if it is a YES we will say “on we go”, and if it is a NO we will say “we continue”.

Democracy is only democracy when the EU gets the result it wants.
