PHIL Brooke from Bewdley certainly wrote a good letter to The Shuttle recently. We think closing Bewdley and Stourport fire stations to have one large one elsewhere is a huge mistake.

I am a pensioner with cancer and a collapsing spine due to the tumour.

Recently, we had a radiator burst in the bathroom one evening and the water poured all over the bathroom, corridor and lounge.

The stop tap wouldn’t turn off.

I was soaked trying to catch the water pouring out.

Out of desperation, I phoned and was sent the fire and rescue crew from Bewdley.

We were grateful for their help.

Our situation could have been much worse had the rescue team travelled from Kidderminster.

All this cutting costs to build new sports centres and new medical surgeries isn’t on.

Cutting our police stations in towns is also another big mistake.

One minute we are a rich country and can house many poor from overseas and then we have our services chopped including our CABs.
