I FELT compelled to write regarding a tragic incident on October 26.

My 81-year-old mum was walking her little poodle on the fields at the back of Spennells, when it was savagely attacked by a black German shepherd that came from nowhere.

The owner, a man, was such a long distance away that he had absolutely no control over the dog, which made repeated attacks and couldn’t be stopped.

My mum’s lovely little dog was so badly injured the vets couldn’t save her and she had to be put to sleep.

Why on earth do these people own dangerous dogs when they have no idea how to control them? Why do they let them run free?

Mum’s dog was her sole companion and very much loved by her.

She is understandably distraught after what she witnessed and at 81, it’s not easy to recover. She has also been left with a huge vets bill through no fault of her own, adding to the stress and trauma.

This person will know who they are. Please don’t put someone else through this heartbreak.
