I read with great interest the rantings of Dixon Sheppard in last week’s Kidderminster Shuttle.

What planet does this gentleman live on? With regards to his comments on the re-organisation of local government in the 1970s. This was a national operation when all local urban town councils were embodied in new district councils, this did not only apply to Stourport.

Mr Sheppard then goes on to comment on the local swimming pool baths and their recent re-location to the Silverwoods excellent site.

I have resided in Stourport for 54 years, all my three children went by coach from Burlish Park School for their swimming lessons as with all the children from Lickhill School. I am sure the coach drivers taking the children to their swimming lessons today find the journey to the new facilities a much easier journey along the dual track than having negotiate the Stourport’s one way system and then across the bridge.

He then goes on to resurrect the old red herring of the gifting the Vale Road carpark for use as a free parking area for the residents of Stourport. This is completely untrue and documented evidence is available that Mr Vale sold that land to the Stourport Town Council.

Mr Sheppard continues to go on at length as to issues he has with Wyre Forest District Council.

Reading his tirade you would think the electorate of Stourport did not have a vote on who represents them at Wyre Forest DC which of course they most certainly do, unfortunately as fas as he is concerned they do not elect the people he would prefer.

As for Stourport not getting anything, what about the two new state of the art First Schools at Burlish and Lickhill in very recent years.

Lets move on into the 21st Century.
