REGARDING the proposed Bewdley town centre development (Shuttle, August 21), where was Stephen Clee last year when many places in the country were flooded, some due to flood plains having been built on?

He obviously didn’t hear about the surface water running down Dog Lane like a river and bringing up two areas of the cobblestones.

Since the successful flood barrier has been installed on Severn Side North, water from the higher parts of the town has had to be pumped away, instead of just draining into the river through underground pipes as it used to be. If this proposed development for the centre of Bewdley goes ahead the town will, once again, be under threat from flooding, but this time it will be from surface and waste water.

Think again Councillor Clee.
