I WOULD like to bring to everyone’s attention that the number of people breaking the rules regarding car fog lamps is phenomenal – and it’s getting worse!
On front fog lamps, the Road Vehicles Lighting Regulations 1989 state they are prohibited to be used: (a) so as to cause undue dazzle or discomfort to other persons using the road.
(b) so as to be lit at any time other than in conditions of seriously reduced visibility.
(c) so as to be lit when a vehicle is parked.
On rear fog lamps, they are prohibited to be used: (a) so as to cause undue dazzle or discomfort to the driver of a following vehicle.
(b) so as to be lit at any time other than in conditions of seriously reduced visibility.
If this is in the Highway Code then why are the police ignoring it? Some of these fog lights are incredibly bright and make it very hard to see.
It’s making driving dangerous in some instances and some people react by using a full beam which is even worse.
I saw a police car in Foley Park, Kidderminster, drive straight past one and ignore it completely. Isn’t it a fineable offence?
