Watch and enjoy without touching

I AM writing to appeal to parents and animal lovers alike. Please leave Mother Nature alone, especially now, when so many animals, birds and waterbirds are giving birth to young.

On a recent Saturday my best friend and I saw a mallard with her 13 ducklings on the canal. Sadly, within a couple of hours, she had nine left.

We were both horrified, but unable to prevent the actions of two, thoughtless teenage girls. They picked up some of the ducklings which killed them. I thought anyone with a modicum of intelligence would know not to do such a thing?

My point is that very soon there will be more ducklings and other young animals on our green spaces.

Please leave them alone to do as nature intended.

I get an immense amount of pleasure, as I am sure many others do in Kidd-erminster, from watching the wildlife along the canal. They can be watched and enjoyed without touching.

So, parents, please tell your children and responsible adults alike, look but don’t touch, leave nature alone.
