A BRAVE Kidderminster two-year-old given just weeks to live touched the hearts of a church congregation as best man at his parents’ wedding today.

As he rode his toy car down the aisle to bring his parents their wedding rings little Charlie Harris-Beard made his father Joe Beard and mother Fiona Harris’s big day extra special.

Everyone clapped as Charlie, dressed smartly in a suit, made his way down the aisle in the toy vehicle to meet the couple.

They had moved their wedding day forward a year so the youngster, who has acute myeloid leukaemia, could be there with them.

Dozens of friends, family and people inspired by Charlie filled St Mary’s Church for the special occasion.

They were all smiles as Fiona walked down the aisle and Canon Owain Bell, who led the service, said Charlie’s mother wanted to make “St Mary’s Church feel fully alive”.

He added: “This is a very special day. Everybody who knows Joe and Fiona and the family or who has been following the story of Charlie would have felt their hearts touched.

“It’s very seldom that you get a community that would put their arms around the family in the way the community has put their arms around [this family].”

There were cheers as the couple were pronounced husband and wife and the service ended with Fiona releasing two doves outside the church.

Speaking after the service Canon Bell said: “It was wonderful. It was fantastic when Charlie came down in his car.

“It was put together as quickly as can be so we didn’t have time for rehearsals.

“There was a lot of love in the building and the moment when Charlie came down in the car was rather special. It was very warming.”
