Icy roads warning for Wyre Forest motorists

EMERGENCY services are urging Wyre Forest drivers to be extra cautious on the roads as forecasters predict a drop in temperature.

Worcestershire County Council echoed the advice given by Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service and said its gritting fleet would be covering primary routes from 7pm tonight.

Sharon Jones from the fire service’s community safety department, said: “While we have had flooded roads to contend with this winter, there’s been only a handful of icy mornings and no snow yet.

“We do, however, tend to see an increase in collisions when the roads are icy and so we are keen to encourage motorists, particularly younger drivers who may not have driven on the ice before, to keep an on the weather and take extra care.”
