Rotary club looks for volunteers

THE success of the 2012 Olympics and Paralympics has inspired Bewdley Rotary Club to look for volunteers.

Thousands of volunteers, including rotarians, helped make the London games a success and now the Bewdley club wants anyone willing to lend a helping hand to join the organisation.

Dave Tyrrell, membership and PR officer for the club, said: “Rotary offers a world of opportunities for everyone,”

adding the club was looking for “all kinds of people from all kinds of areas”.

“Many people join because they want to give something back,” Mr Tyrell said. “What amazes them is what they get back in return. They discover new skills, new-found confidence and a group of new friends who all have the same idea - to improve the lives of other.”

He added people could get involved in activities such as helping schools and youth groups, providing marshalling at civic events, supporting a children’s home in South Africa or a school in Romania.
