Gridlock in Kidderminster

DRIVERS have been caught up in gridlock in Kidderminster this morning following last night's snowfall.

There are traffic problems in parts of the Spennells area causing tailbacks during rush hour.

Are you experiencing any traffic problems? Email cadisha.brown@kidderminstershuttle.co.uk or call 01562 633341.

This is unbelievable- firstly we knew it was on its way so why weren't commuters more prepared and left home early, and why, for heavens sake, haven't the County Council done their job and had roads ready. Amazing!!! and its hardly arctic conditions - i've seen more salt on peoples dinners than the amount of snow that has fallen.

Tail backs in rush hour? Shock, horror, gridlock! I drove to Franche at 9.00 and hardly saw another car - all stuck in Spennells obviously!

There is always a traffic problem on Spennells Valley Road as there are only 2 exits onto Spennells Valley Road from Spennells. With people leaving for school and work from approx 2,000 homes there are problems when there isn't any snow!
As far as I was aware WCC did grit in anticipation of the snow and the local roads seem to be fine.

I drove back from London yesterday evening. All local roads had been gritted by 7pm.

Hardly a gridlock, no more traffic than normal. If you think this was gridlock wait until we get some real snow.

residential roads are very rarely on the county grit run. I am having enough trouble trying to get the to add discovery way now that it is no longer a residential only road.

Ice will be a bigger problem tomorrow.

I still don't understand how people don't remember how to drive in the snow. It happens every year now. Slow down, allow more room & time. Avoid the brakes, gently on if you have to along with the power when you need it. Drive with anticipation and awareness. No sudden anything. Be courteous & patient, it's the same for every one.

Only main roads and bus routes are gritted these days not side roads or estate roads.

I would hazard that Discovery Way around to Severn Road IS now a main road built with adverse cambers, so quite dangerous.

So what is going to happen when it snow's, lets face it all we had was a dusting of snow which didn't stay around that long.
Who reported a gridlock around Kidder must have been joking in my view or attention seekers.

Oops!

Didn't realise Tesco had renamed Discovery Road when they built their new bridge?

To John Herbert Smith, 4 of us travelled to Hammersmith to a Polish Community Lunch. It was far cheaper and economical in terms of both money and time for us to travel by car. We left at 10.30 and were home by 7pm. That would not have been possible by train!

What's this got to do with Snow in Kidderminster, if you want to talk about rip-off train fares then go start another blog!!

Gridlock?

Are you joking, this isn't grid lock, this is a delay..

Grid lock occurs in cities where the snow doesn't normally fall and the vast majority of inhabitants don't know what to do. I know because I have experienced it many times.

After living in Bewdley for 33 years I can safely say that Bewdley/Kidderminste
r/Stourport NEVER suffer from gridlock. Yes it’s frustrating when you have idiots on the road, yes it seems like a little wait while you're stuck, but let’s face it, you were warned about the snow, it fell, you got stuck, who is to blame?

To the Shuttle, it's irresponsible to write 'Gridlock' as it's no such thing.

Fair enough Fran, I jest!!!

But have you heard of GroupSave?
4 people for the price of 2 on Off Peak and Super Off peak fares?

So London to Kidderminster could be as low as ~£13 per person!

"Think again, take the train."
