Man arrested after street assault in Bewdley

A MAN has been arrested  following a serious assault in Bewdley.

Police found a man in his 40s with a head injury opposite the Texaco Service Station in Kidderminster Road at just after 2.30am and an ambulance was called to the scene.

The man was taken to the Worcestershire Royal Hospital and detained there overnight. He was discharged this afternoon.

A 20-year-old man was arrested in Bewdley on suspicion of assault shortly after the incident and taken to Kidderminster Police Station for questioning. He was later released on police bail until 4 March, pending further inquiries.

Police in particular want to trace a male taxi driver who it is believed witnessed the incident.

He, or anyone else with information, is urged to contact Kidderminster CID on the non-emergency number 101, quoting the incident reference 88-S-130113.
