Chance to comment on the draft Police and Crime Plan live

WEST Mercia’s Police and Crime Commissioner alongside the Chief Constable will be taking questions from residents about the draft Police and Crime Plan and the proposed precept as part of a live webcast tomorrow. .

As well as getting their questions answered by Bill Longmore and David Shaw, others will also be able to watch responses either live or at a later date.

Mr Longmore said: “I would very much welcome your views on my proposals, as set out in the draft Police and Crime Plan, available to view on my website www.westmercia-pcc.gov.uk, and in particular my proposed aims, objectives and measures of success. Do you think I have got these right? Do you think I have missed anything important out?

“I am also required to set a budget and notify the Police and Crime Panel of my proposed precept by February 1. I would therefore welcome your views on the precept options which include no increase, a per cent increase or a 2 per cent increase.

“This live webcast offers you the ideal opportunity to get your questions answered and I’d encourage as many of you as possible to get involved and help shape the future of the policing service in your area.”

To take part in the webcast, which starts at 2pm, people must email westmerciapcc@gmail.com.

Questions can be emailed in advance or during the webcast. Any questions not answered at the webcast will be responded to after.

The final plan has to be published by the end of March following consultation with the Police and Crime Panel.

A police budget for the financial year beginning in April must also be put in place by then.
