BUDDING poets will be performing tomorrow in a bid to be named Worcestershire's Young Poet Laureate for 2013.

Worcestershire's County Council Libraries and Learning, Arts and Children Services teams received 33 entries from across the county.

Fifteen have been chosen to perform at the grand final in Pershore.

Each young poet submitted two poems, one on the subject of stars and the other on a subject of their choice.

Poets who have made the final from Wyre Forest include Teddy Horton-Turner of Rock, Charlotte Rhodes of Stourport, Molly Bradbury of Stourport and Ryan Gallagher of Wolverley.

The judging panel is looking for someone with a talent for poetry who will embrace the role of Worcestershire's Young Poet Laureate.

Natalie McVey, service development co-ordinator, said: "This competition has been a great way to encourage young people to explore their local library, get creative, improve their writing and hopefully catch the poetry bug. Everything's set for a wonderful final."
