YOGA classes are being held in Bewdley to help expectant mothers relax and cope with their pregnancy.

The sessions, run by yoga teacher Janine Rusby, take place at the Barnardo’s Riverside Children’s Centre, in Stourport Road every Friday.

Ms Rusby said: “Yoga is an excellent way for people to relax and stay fit.

“In the classes we will work with yoga postures modified to suit the pregnant body and also to help deal with some of the common ailments many women suffer from such as swollen ankles, backache, anxiety and fatigue. The classes will also teach breathing and relaxation techniques which many women find beneficial during labour.”

She added: “It is really exciting to be able to offer a group at Riverside Children’s’ Centre. Yoga really helped me during my pregnancy and labour and I want to be able to share that with other women.”

Experts say yoga postures are gentle ways of keeping your body active and supple and minimise the common pregnancy symptoms like morning sickness and constipation. It can also help in ensuring easier labour and smooth delivery of baby.

Sessions start at 9.45am and will run until 11.15am.
