Mother left heartbroken after thieves steal car and pram

MINDLESS car thieves have left a single mother heartbroken after callously stealing her vehicle with her three-month-old baby’s pushchair inside.

Heidi Virgo, of Kidderminster, woke up yesterday morning to find her grey Volkswagen Golf - registration X898 MKO - had been stolen.

It had been parked in Marlpool Lane and as well as the £250 pram, also had the 23-year-old’s bank cards and passport inside.

Miss Virgo, who saved up for four months to buy the car, said she would not be able to take her son Caine out without the pushchair and could not afford to replace it.

“It’s really heartbreaking,” she said. “I thought I had parked it in the wrong place at first. This is the last thing I need with a little baby. I’m not in a situation to replace anything.

“I’m not going to be able to carry my son in my arms in the freezing cold. I really struggled to pay for that car and I finally paid it off and someone goes and steals it. They haven’t got any morals to do that to a single mother without any money.”

She added she was due to enrol at the Academy at Kidderminster next month and hoped the car would be returned before then.

“I’ve got to get around for college and I’m not going to be able to do that now,” said Miss Virgo.”I want anyone who has seen the car to come forward.”

A West Mercia Police spokeswoman said officers were investigating the theft. Anyone with information should contact police on 101 quoting reference 120-S-230113.

I'm sorry but come on- a push chair worth more than the car and a bag containing passport and cards left in a car overnight? Please don't fall for this people- no free cars and replacement prams please for this act of self inflicted distress

By the way, the college is in town now not Hoo Road so you will only need to walk about half a mile!

Oh how dreadful for this young mother , who obviously had worked hard to save for a car and some unemployed idiot steal it from her. Leaving passport and cards in a car is a little irresponsible, but who thinks a car that is very difficult to break into because my husband works for VW informs me that they would need to be an expert to steal such a car and this young mother probably did not expect to have her personal belongings taken from such a car in a respectable part of town in Kidderminster.....

People do not realise how much pushchairs cost. I as a single mother of two paid nearly £400 of my hard earned money on a double buggy because thats just what they cost. But for some thug to steal it because they can't be arsed to work is disgraceful..... Could you imagine saving so hard for something and then having it taken....... Kidderlord your comment is vile. Hope you never have to see what its like

Me a stupid moron---- mmm now where did I put my passport? Oh yes its locked away in a safe place in the house. My wallet? Oh yes, that's in the kitchen. My double buggy - oh ain't got one as I only have one baby. His pushchair - oh yes in the house from when I brought him in out of the car. How stupid am I! TUT TUT.
And my car - oh its not parked in a "posh area" as I cant afford to live there being on benefits and unemployed and with no mommy or daddy to keep me. I have to live in a council house. Still if anyone breaks in Ill run to the press and see if they will run the story for me.

I've just found a new double buggy on ebay for £99. Maybe you paid a bit much? Second hand ones are cheaper than that....

I feel sorry for the mother but she must take some responsibility for leaving that stuff in there. Similarly, if she is serious about education then a walk into town it will be if she wants to go to college.

The thief is obviously scum.

As a recent victim of having a £30000 bmw stolen off our drive just before Xmas I feel for this girl. Our "so called unstealable" car was taken without the keys as suspect the key was cloned. Yes it was upsetting and we freaked out thinking we had been followed or had someone watching the house. But, the car has been found. It's in about 19 pieces though and will be written off. The insurance will cough up and we will get a new car. Contents are also covered on insurance. If she has insurance then everything will get replaced. Not sure about passports though. That is just stupid leaving those in a car. Most people have them in a safe place in the house. One a car has been stolen it is never the same. The worst thing is the inconvienience and paying through the roof next year to insure the car.
