Free health checks in Stourport
12:19pm Thursday 7th February 2013 in Local
FREE health checks will be taking place at Stourport Library to help identify people at risk of common health conditions.
The NHS checks, for Worcestershire residents aged between 40 and 74, will take place between Monday and next Friday and will take about 20 minutes.
They include cholesterol, blood pressure and blood sugar tests and aim to identify people at risk of heart disease.
To be eligible for a check, people must not already have a diagnosis for conditions such as heart disease, stroke, diabetes and kidney disease.
Maureen Hobbs, manager of Stourport Library said: "We are pleased to offer the library as a venue for this service. Anyone wanting to find out more, or to check if they are eligible, can ask the library staff."
Dr Richard Harling, Worcestershire's Director of Public Health, added: "The checks are an excellent way for people to review their health and lifestyle choices and stay healthier for longer."
