THREE Wyre Forest sisters won a trip of a lifetime to attend a race weekend in Daytona in Florida.

Claire Montague, of Kidderminster and her sisters Laura Harding, of Stourport and Sarah Harding, of Cleobury Mortimer, won a trip to the 2013 Rolex 24 courtesy of Grand-Am, a company owned by Nascar.

The prize also included a stay at a hotel on the world-famous Daytona beach as well as the VIP treatment and behind-the-scenes tours at the race ground.

Mrs Montague, 32, said: “Winning this competition was such a huge surprise. After being taken inside the track we were prepared for our hot lap. We have to all agree that this was the highlight of the weekend.

"The car reached speeds of 160mph, we were thrown back into our seats, adrenaline pumping, and thoroughly enjoyed the ride.”

The sisters also visited the North Turn pub, where Nascar began.

Mrs Montague added: “The pub was filled with old photographs and memorabilia of the track on the beach, the drivers and their cars.

"We were joined by Salman bin Isa Al Khalifa, the chief executive of the Formula 1 track in Bahrain, who told some amazing stories.

“This weekend was the first, but not last, race any of us has been to, and has ignited a new interest in racing.”
