FOOTBALL players from the Kidderminster Harriers have put their best foot forward to support the British Heart Foundation’s (BHF) Wyre Forest Jog.

The 5K or 10K jog takes place on Sunday, March 3 and takes runners along the forestry commission paths of the Wyre Forest.

The route is off-road and traffic-free and is tailored to suit anyone who wants to run, jog or walk.

Gavin Crowe, senior sports therapist at Kidderminster Harriers, said: “Today the modern day footballer knows the importance of looking after their hearts, so it makes sense for us to show our support to the BHF and the fantastic work they do.

“We’d encourage everyone who knows someone who has been affected by heart disease to sign up to the Wyre Forest Jog and do their bit to help the BHF continue their life-saving work.”

Jemma Curran, regional event organiser for the BHF, said: “We’ve had a great response so far, but with just a few weeks to go we still have places left to fill.

“We’re aiming for this event to raise £30,000 towards our vital, life-saving work, but to achieve that we need more people to sign up and take part.”

Registration costs £12 for adults and £5 for children. Entries on the day will be available at £15 for adults, with registration opening at 9am and the event starting at 11am from the Wyre Forest Visitors Centre, in Callow Hill.

For more information and to register online, visit bhf.org.uk/wyre or call 0845 130 8663.

Participants are also encouraged to raise as much sponsorship as possible to help support the work of the charity.
