AN event to showcase the skills of youngsters with moderate learning disabilities will be held in Kidderminster.
Businesses are being invited to the event at the Emily Jordan Foundation unit – set up in memory of the 21-yearold, of Trimpley, who died riverboarding in New Zealand in 2008 – in Finepoint Way next Tuesday from 5.30pm until 6.30pm.
Wyre Forest MP Mark Garnier, who is backing the event, said: “Everybody has something to offer in the workplace and sometimes we need to be shown that preconceptions can be misplaced.
“There is a wealth of untapped skills and attributes in this hidden workforce which, I am sure, will benefit many businesses.”
Emily’s father Chris, chairman of trustees for the charity, said: “These individuals are reliable and hard working and can bring a great deal to business if given the opportunity to show their skills.”
