Life-savers: Wyre Forest youngsters gain their Rookie Lifeguard certificates with Lifeguard Kate Hudson.
YOUNG Wyre Forest lifeguards have been rewarded for their hard work by the Royal Life Saving Society (RLSS).
Nine youngsters have achieved Rookie Lifeguard status after spending the last 18 months training at the Sebastian Coe Health Club at the Mercure Hotel in Bewdley.
The award consists of 10 badges and nine elements of pool work including deep water rescues, personal survival, fitness and underwater swims.
The young lifeguards have also completed a life-support award which enables them to treat someone using their basic first aid skills.
The rookie lifeguard award is the first step to becoming a qualified lifeguard with the RLSS.
The youngsters include Jon Hunt, 8, and brother Max Hunt, 10, of St Anne’s primary in Bewdley, George Scott, 9, of Franche Community Primary, Bewdley School pupils Katy Goddard, 12, Erin Boddice, 11, and Chloe Potter, 14, Baxter College student Elinor Neville, 13, Ella Kirk, 11, of St Wulstan’s and Aaron Lad, 9, of the Knoll School.
