Success at Wyre Forest Dance Festival

NEARLY 1,000 people took part in the week-long Wyre Forest Dance Festival held in Stourport.
The festival was held at Stourport Civic Hall and was organised by Wyre Forest District Council, Dancers from groups in Kidderminster, Bewdley, Stourport, Stourbridge and Worcester took part.
Adjudicator Nathan James selected the best dancers throughout the week to enter Championship sections of the festival with the winners and runners receiving trophies.
Junior Champion was named as Lucy White, of Academy Dance in Worcester, and the runner-up was Ben Sears, also of Academy Dance.
Intermediate champion was Lucy Jones, of Academy Dance, and runner-up was Ellie-Mae Fereday, of Splinters in Kidderminster.
Senior champion was named as Sam Wall, of Splinters, and Gabrielle Sabel, also of Splinters, was runner-up.
Two students were also offered a week’s scholarship at the Urdang Academy in London this summer including Joel Cooper, of Step by Step in Stourport who also won a qualifying heat for the national Dance Master UK competition.
The other scholarship winner was Lucy Jones, the winner of the intermediate championship.
Councillor Ian Hardiman, cabinet member for community well-being said: “The Dance Festival was fantastic this year, it was great to see so many people get involved.
“The level of competition was fierce, with some of the competitors having competed nationally. Congratulations to all the winners and organisers who made it a really successful week.”
