Councillors left in dark at budget meeting

WYRE Forest voters often claim their council representatives are in the dark but at last week’s full council meeting they actually were.

Motion sensor technology left the council chamber in darkness a number of times throughout last Wednesday’s meeting.

The lights automatically switch themselves off in a bid to save money and energy in the chamber and as time passed, the frequency increased.

By 9pm, lights were turning themselves off every five to 10 minutes with council members having to wave their arms to activate the sensors.

Conservative council leader John Campion told the council: “You are aware the lights are going on and off. It obviously isn’t acceptable, the chief executive will be sorting it out.

“It is meant for reasons to try and save money. I would rather tackle projects such as these than sack a further amount of people working for this council, delivering services to our community.”

What ever happened to an on/off switch as an over ride. Clearly shines a light on how little scrutiny takes place. The snag list continues more by accident than design. Another allowance to put up with.

No heating = no lighting
thought this building was suppose to be state of the art
it doesn't seem to have even the most basic of facilities working correctly.

However he is happy marcus hart takes almost £2000 more than he is recommended to - where are the savings there to safeguard jobs and services or is that alright as he is your mate???

Ha ha ha. What a laugh! :o)

No doubt this was all designed by the same mob that will be coming up with all future design proposals for council work??!! Still get them back in for a re-design, it should only cost five or six grand! (£5 for an on off switch and the rest for 'consultancy')

Emjaypee is spot on about the lights going off when no councillors move - but to be honest I'm not sure that all of them are used to working with the lights on anyway!!! ;o)

Another resounding council success!
