FUNDS are needed to help fully equip Bewdley’s St George’s Hall with stage lighting, sound and projection systems.

Work is currently under way to revamp the hall in an £800,000 project and create a multi-purpose hub for the town.

SGH Venue Management, which is overseeing the redevelopment of the hall and will be responsible for its management when it opens later this year, needs an extra £150,000 for the equipment, which also includes chairs, tables, furnishings and catering equipment.

The ambitious plans for St George’s Hall, in Load Street, will see the demolition of the main extension to make way for a three-storey building, while the existing hall will be refurbished.

Once completed, the hall, which has been operated as a community hall by a charitable group of trustees, will include a foyer with meeting and exhibition space and a cafe bar. There will also be new activity spaces for meetings and parties.

The refurbished hall will also include a function space for around 200 people, new toilets and a lift. Other facilities will be provided in the new part of thebuilding.

People can make donations for the hall by contacting Roger Key at info@ sghvm. org.uk or on 01299 405516.

Meanwhile, Bewdley Festival organisers are asking readers to help shed light on this mystery photograph of a fancy dress gathering at St George’s Hall.
