THE Rotary Club of Kidderminster has donated £500 to a Stourport stroke group.

The money was donated at a social event which saw guests being entertained by Con and Dec, founding members of the original boyband, The Bachelors.

The event was held at the Mercure Hotel in Bewdley where Con and Dec sang all their well-known hits as well as popular Swing songs and Irish melodies.

During the evening, Margaret Dudfield, of the rotary club, presented £500 to Carolyn Nicklin, of the Stourport and District Stroke Group.

The money was raised at a summer barbecue held last year.

Over the past year, the rotary club has donated more than £9,000 to good causes with a further £3,000 allocated for future donations.

Companies and organisations that become corporate friends of the rotary club help to raise the money by making an annual donation to its charity account of £120.
