WORK is continuing at pace to build Worcestershire’s first radiotherapy centre.
Construction at Worcestershire Royal Hospital, Worcester, is still on schedule with plans to open the centre in September next year, according to the county’s acute hospitals NHS trust.
Delivery and installation of about 250 tonnes of steel has started and is due to be completed by the end of next month.
That will be followed by supplies of bricks, blocks and other building materials during autumn and winter.
The centre will provide radiotherapy treatment for county cancer patients and it is estimated it will save patients about one million miles of travel every year.
