Still time to apply for a Shuttle grant
10:25am Wednesday 28th August 2013 in Local
THREE organisations have applied for a share of cash being offered to good causes by The Shuttle.
Last year 18 district groups approached the Gannett Foundation – the charitable arm of Gannett Co Inc, the parent company of Newsquest Media Group and owner of The Shuttle – for help totalling more than £120,000.
But there is still plenty of time to get on the list this year as the closing date is Monday, September 16.
The foundation supports projects involving education, neighbourhood improvements, economic development, youth development, local problem-solving, assistance to disadvantaged or disabled people, environmental conservation and cultural enrichment.
Grants are usually between £5,000 and £10,000, although more modest applications are welcome.
The trustees who decide on the successful applications will be looking for schemes that demonstrate good planning and financial responsibility and which offer lasting benefits for the communities.
Wyre Forest recipients of Gannett grants in recent years have included the 1st Kidderminster Boys Brigade, Kidderminster Foodbank, Dial-a-Ride, Age UK, Kidzone and Home-Start who shared thousands of pounds.
Applications will only be accepted from registered charities and can only be submitted by email.
Copies of the most recent financial accounts, any supporting documents and details of the overall aims of the charity must also be included.
Trustees will judge applications in October and then announce the successful applicants in November.
Requests for grants can only be submitted on the approved application form, which can be obtained by emailing email@example.com or by downloading it from The Shuttle website.
Simply click on the Gannett icon on our Home Page at kidderminsterstershuttle.co.uk to download the form.
The completed form and supporting documents should be returned to Shuttle editor Clive Joyce by email by 5pm on Monday, September 16.
