Cookley's party in the park postponed
12:00pm Friday 30th August 2013 in Local
A FREE outdoor music event to be held in Cookley has been postponed due to licensing issues.
Party in the Park was due to be held at Cookley Sports Club on Sunday, September 8 but organisers Upfront Entertainments were unable to satisfy licensing authorities as they could not estimate the number of people attending the event.
Organiser Daryl Preece said: “Upfront Entertainments and Cookley Sports Club have been overwhelmed with the public response to our Party In The Park, however, it is with great sadness that the event will no longer proceed.
“Such has been the popularity of this event which is still growing with social media site's spreading the word even further afield It is impossible to know how many people would attend and therefore, we are unable to satisfy the licensing authorities. In the interest of public safety we welcome that decision.
“The fact that we wanted to make this a free event only added to the problem in estimating numbers. In short, we will just never know how many music lover's would have made their way to the village of Cookley.”
The music event was due to include a number of tribute acts and covers bands including headliners The Anthemics, Take That tribute band Could It Be Magic, Roxy Whilde performing soft rock hits, Jersey Boys tribute Jersey Four, Natalie Anne as ‘Adele’ and Kidderminster’s Tom Joseph as ‘Michael Buble.’
Plans for hosting the event next Summer are already underway.
