Post office set to open for longer
8:20am Saturday 7th September 2013 in Local
A KIDDERMINSTER post office is set to reopen next week after a refurbishment and with longer opening hours.
The Burcher Green facility shut on Monday for the works to start and will be welcoming customers again on Tuesday at 1pm. The retail store will remain open while the changes are made.
The revamped post office will have a more modern environment as part of proposals to modernise the network and extend the opening hours for customers.
People can use alternative post offices, in Warbler Place, Spennells and the Horesfair, while the work is taking place.
The new-look facility will have three serving positions, including a mixture of two screened counter positions with a post office serving point at the retail counter.
Will Russell, Post Office regional network manager, said: “We understand how important having a post office is to residents in the area and we are confident this new modern post office service will meet the needs of the local community and secure services for the future.”
He added: “The modernisation is part of a major investment programme to convert the Post Office network to new-style branches and this investment, the largest in the history of the Post Office, makes a commitment to no more branch closure programmes.”
Following the changes, Post Office products and services will be available Monday to Saturday 5.30am until 10pm and Sunday from 7am until 10pm – an increase of 68 hours a week.
