A LANDLORD which manages properties in Hartlebury and Stourport has become one of the first in the country to launch its own “lifestyle” app.
Festival Housing has developed the app as part of a campaign to improve the fitness and wellbeing of its tenants and staff.
It can be downloaded for free and is updated with monthly fitness challenges as well as regular articles, advice and information on health and exercise.
Caroline Winnall, the group’s health and well being co-ordinator, said: “We believe we are among the first housing organisations in the country to launch such an initiative.
“The app is already being used by many of our residents and staff who are taking part in our monthly challenges.
The tasks are set in conjunction with a fitness adviser and include things like running, cycling and swimming and there are various levels and timetables for different abilities and ages.”
She added the housing group also undertook a range of exercise and diet classes for its tenants and published regular information on wellbeing.
“We take the health of our customers and employees very seriously and want to be as supportive as possible – this new app is another way of encouraging people to get involved in exercise and have some fun,” she said.
Tenant Selena Davies added: “It’s great because it’s updated regularly with lots of relevant and interesting information as well as monthly fitness challenges, which I love, and great tips on how to improve my lifestyle.
“I've always struggled with my self-confidence and wouldn’t feel comfortable joining a gym so this is a great way to access health and fitness information.”
On completion of the monthly challenges, tenants and any of Festival’s staff can update their results online.
The app can be downloaded for by members of the public from the google play store by searching for Festival Housing Lifestyle App.
