Car share website relaunched by Worcestershire council

WORCESTERSHIRE County Council has relaunched the county car share website - worcestershirecarshare.org.uk - which contains a database that links potential car share partners together by journey.
The website has undergone a design overhaul and data cleaning exercise to make it more user friendly.
The new promotion encourages people with and without cars to sign up to help reduce travelling costs and journey times, limit environmental impact and travel with compatible companions, particularly during cooler weather in the autumn and winter.
Car sharing is said to also be of interest to major employers in both private and public sectors, where consolidation of operations in fewer buildings is resulting in less available car parking spaces for staff.
The website forms a key part of Worcestershire County Council's transport policy, which aims to provide enhanced travel choice for its residents and visitors.
Car sharing is one of a number of ways of making more efficient use of the road network, helping people get around in a more affordable way. The county council has teamed up with several of the district councils to raise awareness among their staffs and the general public.
Andy Baker, the county council’s transport planning and commissioning manager, said: "We’re delighted about the relaunch of the website, which will allow users to find suitable travelling companions for frequent journeys.
“A range of measures are built into the website to improve the safety of users but we always recommend that individuals carry out their own reasonable verifications on drivers they're sharing with to eliminate any doubt."
