Wyre Forest firefighters stay off picket line
2:30pm Thursday 26th September 2013 in Local
FIREFIGHTERS in Wyre Forest stayed off the picket line during a four-hour strike in a row over pensions.
The district’s firefighters remained at their stations in Kidderminster, Stourport and Bewdley while other firefighters across Worcestershire walked out.
Members of the Fire Brigades Union (FBU) took part in industrial action yesterday from noon until 4pm following a dispute with the Government about proposed changes to firefighters’ pensions.
Steven Gould, the FBU’s brigade secretary for Hereford and Worcester, confirmed Wyre Forest firefighters did not take part in the strike.
He added: “A lot of the retained firefighters didn’t take part. It was well supported and we had very positive feedback from the public.”
