Your Music concert series raises funds for charity

MUSIC fans enjoyed two “fantastic” evenings at Kidderminster’s charity concert series Your Music.
The two concerts were held at the Kidderminster Town Hall in aid of Kemp Hospice, Kidderminster Hospitals League of Friends, Cancer Research UK and the Alzheimer’s Society.
The concerts, which last year raised £4,000, featured the Kidderminster Area Music Centre Senior String Orchestra, the Bromsgrove School Big Band, Kidderminster Male Choir and the West Midland Light Orchestra (WMLO) on Friday and violin group Bravura, the Birmingham Schools Guitar Ensemble, the Kidderminster Valentines and the WMLO on Saturday.
Organiser Sue Strong said: “It was fantastic, we were so pleased again with the support. All the groups have done it for charity, free of charge. We want to say a really big ‘thank you’ from the committee. We do appreciate their time, effort and commitment.
“It was lovely to have the Kidderminster Male Choir perform on Friday, they were really fantastic.
“The audience loved the youth groups on both days who were absolutely superb. Some of the performers were as young as 10.
“The WMLO were great, as always, and musical director David Etheridge is quite a character. Gary Holloway was superb, last year his microphone was slightly too loud but this year it was spot on. He was absolutely wonderful.
“The Valentines had a lovely night. We turned the lights down and everybody bought twinkling badges to go with the piece Crimond. It was just so emotive.
“The money raised has yet to be counted but the charities will each have a nice amount of money. We had representatives from all four at the concerts and they thoroughly enjoyed it.”
