Kidderminster combat session to be held in memory of mum
6:50am Wednesday 16th October 2013 in Local
TWO friends will be hosting a charity combat session to raise funds in memory of one of their mothers who died of pancreatic cancer.
Beki Sage, 32, and Rachel Brookes, 28, are holding a ‘combat-a-thon’ at Wyre Forest Glades Leisure Centre on Sunday, October 27.
The four-hour session will raise money for Cancer Research UK after Miss Sage’s mother, Janet Wood, died of cancer aged 51 in April.
Miss Sage said: “We always used to come to classes together so we’re just trying to find something positive out of the negative.
“I found out this time last year that the cancer was terminal. She was really brave. I’ve got two much younger sisters and she tried to keep going for them.
Les Mills Bodycombat is a high energy cardio class which incorporates martial arts.
Three instructors will be giving their time for free to teach the four-hour class and people are invited to do as much and as little as they can.
Fitness fanatics are asked to give a £10 minimum donation and can book in advance or take any available places on the day.
The pair are hoping to raise about £2,000 for Cancer Research and are selling cakes and holding a raffle at the event which will take place from 10.30am to 2.30pm.
