12:00pm Friday 18th October 2013 in Local
A BEWDLEY plumber has been shortlisted in a search to find and reward Britain’s top tradesman.
Michael Murton, 38, has seen off competition from tradesmen and women across the West Midlands, and is now in with a chance of getting through to the national final of the contest run by DIY and building supplies company Screwfix.
Mr Murton, who trades under the name A Plan Services Ltd, will compete against other finalists from across the region and hopes his passion, customer service and attention to detail will help him impress the judges.
He said: “When I got the call that I was through to the regional final I was delighted.
“I’m really looking forward to judging day and hope to do my best for plumbers everywhere by getting through to the final.”
John Mewett, Screwfix marketing director added: “It’s the fourth year Screwfix has searched the nation to find Britain’s Top Tradesman, and every year the standard gets higher.
“The award is only given to those who can prove they excel in their business and Michael is a great example of this due to his skill and determination to succeed.
“Along with our other regional finalists, he has demonstrated his willingness to go the extra mile to get the job done. It’s certainly going to be no easy task to pick the winner who will go through to the national final in Wembley.”
Britain’s Top Tradesman is a nationwide search to find and recognise the best builders, helpful handymen, exceptional electricians and perfect plumbers.
The heat in the Midlands will take place at the Tamworth Screwfix store today.
Mr Murton will have to take part in a number of tasks to find out if he’s got what it takes to be crowned the regional winner.
