Petition to save Bewdley fire station
8:00am Sunday 20th October 2013 in Local
MORE than 400 people signed a petition against the possible closure of Bewdley Fire Station.
The town’s Labour party members – Tony Clay, George Court, Paul and Carol Gittins – collected the signatures outside the town hall in a bid to save the base.
Fire chiefs are looking at closing the Dog Lane station, along with three others across Hereford and Worcestershire, under plans to save almost £4.7 million in three years.
Mr Gittins, a former firefighter and town councillor, said it was essential the town kept its base.
