Prolific Kidderminster shoplifter jailed
2:03pm Friday 18th October 2013 in Local
A PROLIFIC Kidderminster shoplifter has again been jailed after breaching his Anti Social Behaviour Order by entering stores in the town.
The two-year Anti Social Behaviour Order prohibiting Gary Griffin, 34, from entering retail premises was imposed by Kidderminster magistrates in May 2012.
Griffin, of Comberton Road, admitted three charges of breaching his ASBO by entering Cash Generators and Boots.
He also admitted stealing a Nintendo DS and a camera worth £140 from his parents’ home, fraud by selling them to Cash Generators when they were not his, and stealing a David Beckham aftershave worth £17 from Boots.
On Tuesday, Redditch magistrates jailed him for a total of 70 days.
The latest case follows a hearing at Kidderminster magistrates in September when he was jailed for a month for breaching the ASBO by entering Debenhams, Wilkinson’s and Sainsbury’s and stealing a bottle of aftershave worth £47 from Debenhams.
PC Andy Forbes of West Mercia Police said: “Griffin has been jailed for the second time in a matter of weeks after blatantly flouting his ASBO.
“Griffin is very well known to both police and shop staff and should he again choose to ignore the ban upon his release from prison, he will find himself before the courts once more and next time he could face a sentence of up to five years.”
