FAMILY and friends of Kidderminster toddler Charlie Harris- Beard will be striding out in his memory.

Members of charity Cords4life will walk from Kidderminster’s Aggborough Stadium to Wrexham FC’s Racecourse Ground to raise cash for the charity.

The cause was set up by the two- year-old’s parents, Fiona Harris and Joe Beard, to raise awareness of umbilical cord donations.

They were inspired after the umbilical cord of an American baby saved Charlie’s life in 2011 before he eventually lost his battle with leukaemia earlier this year.

The sponsored walk will take place in March and the walkers are hoping to arrive in Wrexham during the second half of the Harriers’ game against the Welsh team on March 8.

The Cords4life team announced their plans for the walk during the Harriers versus Wrexham game on November 16.

Wrexham fans supported Charlie when he went onto the pitch at Aggborough Stadium as the Kidderminster club raised money for him last De - cember.

People will be able to track the team’s journey, which is expected to take three days, on Facebook page Help Save Baby Charlie Harris-Beard.The youngster’s courageous two- year leukaemia battle touched people’s hearts and his fam - ily hope the charity will be his lasting legacy.

Since Charlie’s death in February Mrs Harris has been nominated for numerous awards for her efforts in setting up the cause and the work she has done to raise awareness.

Meanwhile, postmen and women who have recorded an album in aid of Kidderminster toddler Charlie Harris-Beard will be holding a live concert this weekend.

The tuneful group will be performing tracks from their album Rubber Band Aid 2 - The Musical at Stourport Civic Hall on Saturday to raise cash for charity Cords4Life, set up by Charlie's parents Joe Beard and Fiona Harris, to raise awareness of umbilical cord donations.

The postmen recorded an album of Christmas songs last year, after Charlie was given just weeks to live and raised £6,500 for the charity through CD and DVD sales, digital downloads and concert tickets.

Following the two-year-old's death in February, the group decided to continue the project in his memory and all the cash raised will be donated to Cords4Life.
