GENEROUS Kidderminster residents have been raising cash for communities in the Philippines devastated by Typhoon Haiyan.

They have held collections in local Catholic churches, raising £2,619 so far. Residents were responding to an appeal by international Christian aid charity CAFOD through local churches.

Helen Moseley, CAFOD manager for Kidderminster, said: “The generosity of the local people has been overwhelming and this is an exceptional response to CAFOD’s appeal.

“People’s livelihoods and communities have been dev - astated in the Philippines and the churches there are playing a vital part in providing emergency relief.”
